Project overview
A routine seasonal visit on a steeply pitched roof, where the debris load is lighter but the access is harder and the work slower.
The trough was cleared with a scoop and by hand along its length, then flushed. The second photograph shows the finished run from the same vantage point.

How a seasonal clean runs on a steep pitch
Pitch changes how a clean is done more than most people expect. On a shallow roof a technician can work off the slope; on a steep shingle plane like this one that is not an option, so the whole run is worked from a ladder, and the ladder has to be repositioned every few feet rather than reached from.
That is slower, and it is the reason a steep-roof clean is quoted differently from a single-story ranch of the same gutter length. It is also why the ladder is never rested on the trough. A ladder leaned against a gutter, even briefly, deforms the front bead and pulls the nearest hanger — and the resulting low spot holds water for the rest of the gutter's life.
The load in this trough was not leaves. It was the fine dark sediment you can see in the photographs: shed shingle granules, roof grit and windborne dust bound together into a layer along the bottom of the run. That material does not block a gutter outright, which is why it gets left for years, but it holds a shallow film of standing water along the whole length and it is heavy when wet.
Sediment has to be flushed rather than lifted. The trough was cleared of what could be picked out, then run with water from the high end so the fines moved down to the outlet and out, and the downspout was watched at ground level until it ran clean.
A seasonal clean on a roof like this is worth booking twice a year rather than once. The volume is not the problem; the standing water is.
The problem, and the result
Before: Seasonal build-up on a hard-to-access pitch.
After: Clean run, no damage to the gutter face.
