Project overview
This property had not been serviced for several seasons and every elevation had a different problem — packed leaves on one side, soil and seedlings on another.
We documented each run before and after so the owner could see the state of the whole system rather than one photogenic section. All four elevations were cleared and every downspout flushed.

Documenting four elevations, run by run
This was a whole-house clean rather than a single problem run, and the house has four elevations that each behave differently. The front sits in the open and mostly collects dust and granules. The shaded side holds damp litter that never dries. The rear takes the discharge from an upper roof plane, so its debris concentrates at the landing point instead of spreading. Treating all four the same is how a clean ends up looking finished and still overflowing in one corner.
So each run was worked and photographed separately, before and after, from a fixed position. The paired frames in the gallery are not a selection of the best two — they are one pair per elevation, taken on the same visit.
That documentation is the point as much as the cleaning. From the ground a homeowner cannot see into a gutter, which means there is no way to check what was actually done. A before and after on each run shows the state it was found in, what came out, and that the outlet at the end of it is clear.
Debris came out by hand into buckets on every elevation, and every downspout was flushed and watched at the bottom rather than just at the top. On a four-sided house the outlets are often the real fault: the trough looks clear, and one downspout in a corner is holding a plug from the previous season.
Everything was bagged and removed, and the beds and paving under each working position were rinsed before we moved round to the next side.
The problem, and the result
Before: Several seasons of build-up across the whole system.
After: Whole system clear and documented run by run.
